The micro-stakes levels are those tables that play with blinds of $0.10-$0.25 or lower for Hold’em or Omaha games. It’s at these stakes that more than a few pros made their humble starts, grinding out small profits and building up a bankroll. With drunks, idiots and other such fish all over these tables, the games are fun, fast and modestly lucrative. With so much of the publicity in the industry always going out to the high and nosebleed stakes players, PokerTableRatings.com tries to give the micro-stakes players some love. In this article we’ll explore those players playing these stakes and find out just who’s starting out 2010 on fire.
We did a quick rundown of some of the Micro-stakes players at $0.10-$0.25 No Limit Holdem, $0.10-$0.25 Pot Limit Omaha, $0.05-$0.10 No Limit Holdem and $0.02-$0.05 No Limit Holdem and examined who was trampling the competition. You’ll find some of the heroes of the smallest games online down below, with a few potential future superstars in the making. Before that, let’s take a look at some “Top 10″ averages.

The top earner so far at 25nl has played more than 100,000 hands in January and won at a solid 3.47 BB/100. His graph is darn near a direct 45 degree angle upward, which makes us wonder why he hasn’t moved up in stakes. He’s played over 550,000 hands lifetime at 25nl and won at 2.76 BB/100 and keeps trucking onward every single day putting in tons of hands.

Impressively winning at 5.37 BB/100 over more than 59,000 hands, this player has grinded himself to second place in this year’s earnings list for 25nl. This is no fluke as his lifetime earnings at 25nl 6max are 5.13 BB/100 over 214,000+ hands. Although his 50nl 6max shot went poorly (-4.8 BB/100 over 25k hands) we’re positive he’ll run well to be an established small stakes player his next time through.

What a start to 2010 for this guy who is enjoying the good side of a swing in Pot Limit Omaha at PokerStars. His breakneck win-rate of 21.52 is almost double that of the person in second place on the top winners so far this year. His big turnaround came on Christmas of 2009 and has been cruising ever since. Ironically, he’s still “down” according to our graphs for his lifetime, but perhaps this upswing will continue on to get him into the green.

His 12.6 BB/100 win-rate is downright sick for Pot Limit Omaha, but it’s definitely a game of swings which this player knows all too well. Playing this level of PLO has propelled him to the second place of this year’s earning lists, although he is still stuck lifetime according to his PTR graph (thanks to horrible sessions at $5-$10 FLH SH, $10-$20 No Limit Hold’em 6max and $1-$2 PLO 6max).

This guy has been on a real tear since the beginning of December 2009, playing almost nothing but 10nl full ring. Over the course of almost 100,000 hands playing 10nl full ring, his lifetime win-rate is an impressive 5.07 BB/100. He fizzled at 25nl full ring after 112,000 hands (0.03BB/100) but that should change in due time.

A relatively new player to PokerStars, he burst on the scene in early December of 2009. He owns a lifetime 7.64 BB/100 win-rate at 10nl with an unsuccessful 18k hand stint at 25nl. Dominating 10nl 6max, we fully expect this player to break the wall and win at 25nl 6max in the very near future.
Player: adamwil
Stakes: $0.02-$0.05 No Limit Hold’em

So far he’s the top earner at 5nl playing exclusively at 6max tables. He puts in some monster 3-5k hand sessions, typically multiple times during the day. He very rarely puts in a losing session and is very consistent in his earnings.
Player: radon99
Stakes: $0.02-$0.05 No Limit Hold’em
Site: PokerStars

With the amount this player has won at 5nl this month he (or she) is rolled at least for 10nl by almost any bankroll standards. His graph is a nice upwards slant and has a lifetime win-rate of 6.42 for his efforts. He’s played at both full ring and 6max games and has even been seen in some Pot Limit Omaha games this month.

thanks for posting that. maybe it'll motivate me. i used to frequent the .25/.50 and .50/1.00 tables (with an occasional foray into the 1/2 game), but since i got back in it i've been trying to work the .5/10 and .10/.25 tables

it blows my mind seeing how many people are willing to push their whole stack preflop in a cash game with A/K.....most overrated hand ever IMO....seems like i never catch a flop
